Oman’s consumer watchdog recovers OMR1,000

Muscat: The Public Authority for Consumer Protection (PACP) in South Al Sharqiyah Governorate was recently able to recover OMR1,000 after it resolved complaints submitted by two consumers.
According to the authorities, in the first case, a consumer filed a complaint against a furniture store because the delivery of his furniture was delayed. Authorities summoned the concerned parties and a settlement was reached where the furniture store returned OMR500 to the consumer.
In the second case, authorities received a complaint against a labour recruitment office. The consumer had signed a contract with the office and even paid a sum of OMR500, but they failed to help him get a housemaid. When the office did not respond to his request to return the money, he filed a complaint. A settlement was reached and the office agreed to pay the consumer.
