Expat workers arrested for illegal artisanal fishing in Oman

Muscat: Expatriate workers were arrested for carrying out artisanal fishing in the Wilayat of Mahout. 

Directorate General of Agricultural, Fisheries and Water Resources in Al Wusta said: “The fish control team at the Directorate General of Agricultural, Fisheries and Water Resources in Al Wusta Governorate followed up on the presence of violating expatriate workers practising artisanal fishing in the Wilayat of Mahout. The team has taken the necessary measures to arrest the violators and seize the dredging equipment, and shrimp and two fishing boats were seized.”

The Directorate added, “The Directorate General confirms that it is continuing to follow up everything that contributes to preserving the living aquatic wealth.”
