Muscat: Military personnel from the Sultan’s Armed Forces have been deployed to several parts of Oman affected by cyclone Shaheen, to provide emergency aid to people.
The engineering services division of the Ministry of Defence provided technical and engineering support to people, by installing electricity generators, water suction vehicles, and the necessary technical equipment, said Oman News Agency.
Other government bodies have also been assigned the necessary tasks they need to handle, as part of the framework of the joint action plan, which includes the Sultan’s Armed Forces. This is in accordance with the military committee that has been set up to manage emergencies.
Meanwhile, the military committee for emergency management continues to hold discussions to locate those areas where citizens, residents and organisations require their assistance, in collaboration with the National Committee for Emergency Management.
Among the divisions involved in providing assistance was the Coastal Security Force of the 23rd Infantry Brigade of the Royal Army of Oman, which has provided technical support and manpower to people in South Al Sharqiyah.
Other military units and engineering divisions from the Ministry of Defence were also involved in their efforts to provide assistance.
