CMA organises trainers’ training programme on medical coding

Muscat: The Capital Market Authority organised a trainers’ training programme to acquaint them to train others in matters related to health insurance electronic link Dhamani Platform with the participation of 280 persons from government and private health institutions, insurance companies and health insurance third party administrators. The participants attended physically and via video conferencing.

The programme covered several topics the most important is the training of trainers on medical coding systems and their role in ensuring quality health services and data accuracy in addition to reviews on medical coding systems that would be incorporated in the Dhamani Platform such as CPT license arranged by the CMA in the platform in contract with the American Medical Association as the platform would link insurance companies with private health institutions and the institutions would use the above-mentioned license for classification and diagnosis of diseases to limit the need for unnecessary medicines and diagnosis.

The trainers were trained on the method for using the unified platform which includes (MapME) for medical coding, Health Data Records (HDR), Main Data Records (MDR) and the training portal.

A number of tests were conducted for the trainees especially in medical coding systems to ensure their understanding of the topics in addition to questions and discussion sessions.

The CMA continues its endeavours to empower the Omani youth to work in the various technical fields related to health insurance including medical coding which would provide jobs related to medical coding in insurance companies and private health institutions.
