Muscat: With temperatures hovering over 45 degrees in most parts of Oman, those fasting this Ramadan will need to take special precautions while eating to ensure they remain healthy throughout the holy month.
The Public Authority for Consumer Protection (PACP) has urged the citizens and residents of the Sultanate not to consume too much food during the holy month of Ramadan.
“People should focus on eating healthy food, as this may prevent many types of diseases,” the PACP posted on its twitter feed on Tuesday.
What the doctor says
Further, doctors have warned the public not to gorge after fasting.
“Eating heavy meals and uncontrollably during Iftar, as well as the type of food eaten, could cause major complications, such as severe gastrointestinal problems, abdominal upsets, abdominal discomfort, bloating and acidity, among many other ailments,” cautioned Dr Basheer, a specialist in Internal Medicine at Badr Al Sama Hospital.
