MSX index ends marginally higher

MSX index ends marginally higher

Muscat: The MSX index closed at 4,216.82 points, up by 0.53 per cent from the previous close. The Sharia Index ended up by 0.51 per cent at 514.60 points.

Oman & Emirates Holding, up 8.77 per cent, was the top gainer while, SMN Power Holding down 8.77 per cent, was the top loser. Shares of Al Omaniya Financial Services were the most active in terms of the number of shares traded while Omantel were the most active in terms of turnover.

A total number of 806 trades were executed during the day's trading session, generating a turnover of OMR3.38 million, with more than 16.6 million shares changing hands. Out of 46 traded securities, 23 advanced, 5 declined and 18 remained unchanged. At the session close, Domestic investors were net buyers for OMR259,000 while GCC & Arab investors were net sellers for OMR252,000 followed by foreign investors for OMR7,000 worth of shares.

Financial Index closed at 6772.42 points, up by 0.72 per cent. Prices of Oman & Emirates Investment, Muscat Finance, Taageer Finance, Al Sharqia Investment, and Al Omaniya Financial Services were up by 8.77 per cent, 5.26 per cent, 3.8 per cent, 3.33 per cent, and 3.03 per cent respectively. 

                   
Industrial Index closed at 5914.89 points, 0.69 per cent. Prices of National Aluminium, Jazeera Steel Products, Al Maha Ceramics, Oman Flour Mills, and Oman Cement were up by 3.54 per cent, 0.49 per cent, 0.45 per cent, 0 per cent, and 0 per cent respectively. Prices of Raysut Cement, Oman Fisheries and Oman Cables Industry were down by 7.37 per cent, 3.64 per cent and 0.99 per cent respectively.     

    
Services Index was by 0.43 per cent before closing at 1659.93 points. Prices of Al Batinah Power, Al Suwadi Power, Oman National Engineering, Dhofar Generating, and OIFC were up by 2.08 per cent, 2.08 per cent, 1.91 per cent, 1.52 per cent, and 1.26 per cent respectively. Prices of SMN Power Holding, National Gas, Al Batinah Hotels, United Power - Preferential Shares, and United Power were down by 8.77 per cent, 0.78 per cent, 0 per cent, 0 per cent, and 0 per cent respectively.
