Five arrested for drug smuggling attempt in Oman

Muscat: The Royal Oman Police (ROP), has arrested five people for attempting to smuggle narcotic drugs into the Sultanate of Oman.

"The Directorate General for Combating Drugs and Psychotropic Substances arrested five people accused of smuggling narcotic drugs in partnership with an international gang and illegally entering the country. ROP seized quantities of hashish, crystal and morphine in their possession," the ROP said in a statement

Meanwhile, the Coast Guard police in Dhofar Governorate, in cooperation with a citizen, thwarted an attempt to smuggle more than 1,900 packages of khat into the country by sea. The legal procedures are being completed against the accused.
