
Muscat: The MSX index closed at 4,057.61 points, up by 0.48 per cent from the previous close. The Sharia Index ended up by 0.47 per cent at 491.96 points. Dhofar Generating, up 7.41 per cent, was the top gainer while, OIFC, down 8.50 per cent, was the top loser. Shares of OIFC were the most active in terms of the number of shares traded as well as in terms of turnover.
A total number of 533 trades were executed during the day's trading session, generating a turnover of OMR7.89 million, with more than 42.2 million shares changing hands. Out of 56 traded securities, 15 advanced, 10 declined and 31 remained unchanged. At the session close, GCC & Arab investors were net sellers for OMR1.3 million while domestic investors were net buyers for OMR1.2 million followed by foreign investors for OMR49,000 worth of shares.
Financial Index closed at 6438.64 points, down by 0.05 per cent. Prices of Al Anwar Investment, United Finance, Ominvest, Bank Muscat, and Vision Insurance were up by 3.9 per cent, 3.66 per cent, 1.91 per cent, 0.77 per cent, and 0 per cent respectively. Prices of Al Sharqia Investment, National Finance, HSBC Bank Oman, Muscat Finance, and Bank Nizwa were down by 6.17 per cent, 3.28 per cent, 2.04 per cent, 1.61 per cent, and 1.03 per cent respectively.
Industrial Index closed at 5756.75 points, up by 0.58 per cent. Prices of Al Maha Ceramics, Oman Fisheries, Galfar Engineering, Voltamp Energy, and Jazeera Steel Products were up by 4.78 per cent, 2.9 per cent, 1.47 per cent, 1.11 per cent, and 1.05 per cent respectively. The price of Raysut Cement was down by 1.63 per cent.
Services Index was down by 0.55 per cent before closing at 1634.85 points. Prices of Dhofar Generating, Al Batinah Power, Sharqiyah Desalination, Oman Telecom, and Oman National Engineering were up by 7.41 per cent, 2.08 per cent, 1.44 per cent, 0.99 per cent, and 0.87 per cent respectively. Prices of OIFC and Muscat Desalination were down by 8.5 per cent, 3.28 per cent respectively.
