MSX index ends marginally higher

MSX index ends marginally higher

Muscat: The MSX index closed at 4,343.10 points, up by 0.43 per cent from the previous close. The Sharia Index ended down by 0.20 per cent at 491.44 points.

Voltamp Energy, up 7.45 per cent, was the top gainer while, Aman Real Estate, down 8.08 per cent, was the top loser. Shares of HSBC Bank Oman were the most active in terms of the number of shares traded while Bank Muscat were the most active in terms of turnover.

A total number of 594 trades were executed during the day's trading session, generating a turnover of OMR3.68 million, with more than 17.3 million shares changing hands. Out of 42 traded securities, 9 advanced, 13 declined and 20 remained unchanged. At the session close, foreign investors were net sellers for OMR1 million while domestic investors were net buyers for OMR960,000 followed by GCC & Arab investors for OMR56,000 worth of shares.

Financial Index closed at 7028.95 points, up by 0.3 per cent. Prices of Sohar International Bank, HSBC Bank Oman, Global Financial Investments, Bank Nizwa, and Vision Insurance were up by 4.2 per cent, 3.33 per cent, 2.86 per cent, 1.01 per cent, and 0 per cent respectively. Prices of Oman Arab Bank, United Finance, Taageer Finance, Muscat Finance, and Al Sharqia Investment were down by 6.58 per cent, 4.76 per cent, 3.37 per cent, 3.23 per cent, and 2.3 per cent respectively.

Industrial Index closed at 5952.12 points, down by 0.08 per cent. Prices of Voltamp Energy, Al Anwar Ceramics, Oman Cables Industry, Oman Flour Mills, and Oman Cement were up by 7.45 per cent, 0.44 per cent, 0 per cent, 0 per cent, and 0 per cent respectively. Prices of National Aluminium, Jazeera Steel Products, Al Maha Ceramics, were down by 2.41 per cent, 1.87 per cent, 0.40 per cent respectively.

Services Index was up by 0.15 per cent before closing at 1629.75 points. Prices of Shell Oman Marketing, Al Batinah Power, Oman Telecom, OIFC, and Ooredoo were up by 2.79 per cent, 2.08 per cent, 0.47 per cent, 0 per cent, and 0 per cent respectively. Prices of Al Jazeera Services, National Gas were down by 2.84 per cent, 1.4 per cent respectively.
