MSX index ends marginally lower

MSX index ends marginally lower

Muscat: The MSX index closed at 4,161.34 points, down by 0.51 per cent from the previous close. The Sharia Index ended down by 0.49 per cent at 480.41 points.

Sembcorp Salalah, up 5.13 per cent, was the top gainer while, A'Saffa Foods, down 5.26 per cent, was the top loser. Shares of Bank Nizwa were the most active in terms of the number of shares traded while Ooredoo were the most active in terms of turnover.

A total number of 531 trades were executed during the day's trading session, generating a turnover of OMR4.13 million, with more than 26.49 million shares changing hands. Out of 43 traded securities, 7 advanced, 21 declined, and 15 remained unchanged. At the session close, GCC & Arab investors were net buyers of OMR173,000, followed by foreign investors for OMR19,000 worth of shares.

Financial Index closed at 6,593.72 points, down 0.49 per cent. Prices of Oman Qatar Insurance and Ahli Bank were up by 0.96 per cent and 0.86 per cent respectively. Prices of Al Anwar Investment, Oman & Emirates Investment, Bank Nizwa, HSBC Bank Oman and Al Madina Investments were down by 2.33 per cent, 2.3 per cent, 2.08 per cent, 1.82 per cent and 1.35 per cent respectively.

Industrial Index closed at 61120.12 points, down 0.08%. Oman Cement (up 2 per cent) was the only gainer. Prices of A'Saffa Foods, National Aluminium, Galfar Engineering, Oman Fisheries and Gulf Mushroom Products were down by 5.26 per cent, 2.25 per cent, 1.87 per cent, 1.79 per cent and 0.91 per cent respectively.

Services Index was down by 0.06 per cent before closing at 1,650.17 points. Prices of Sembcorp Salalah, SMN Power Holding and Phoenix Power were up by 5.13 per cent, 4.76 per cent and 2.04 per cent respectively. Prices of Renaissance Services, National Gas, Oman Telecom, OIFC and Ooredoo were down by 1.79 per cent, 1.4 per cent, 1.37 per cent, 1.32 per cent and 1.18 per cent respectively.
