Campaign to combat Aedes aegypti launched in South Al Batinah

Muscat: The campaign to combat Aedes aegypti was launched in the Wilayat of Barka, South Al Batinah Governorate, on Sunday, May 22, 2022.

"This morning, the campaign to combat Aedes aegypti was launched in the Wilayat of Barka in the Governorate of South Al Batinah, in the presence of His Excellency Sheikh Issa bin Hamad Al Azri, Governor of South Al Batinah, His Excellency Sheikh Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Buriki, Wali of Barka, and Dr Ali bin Abdullah Al Muqbali, Director General of the Directorate General of Health Services in the Governorate of South Al Batinah. The campaign will continue till June 2, 2022," Directorate General of Health Services in South Al Batinah Governorate said in a statement.

The campaign comes with the aim of combating the Aedes aegypti mosquito, which was recently registered in the Wilayat of Barka, which necessitated the organisation of this campaign to combat and eradicate this mosquito and its places of reproduction.

The campaign emphasises on the importance of community members’ awareness of ways to prevent Aedes aegypti by getting rid of solid waste and all forms of water gatherings around homes, the need to tightly cover water tanks, remove used tires, and dispose of all empty containers and pots.

The Directorate General of Health Services in South Al Batinah calls upon everyone to take precautions and take information from its correct sources and not pay attention to rumours.
