Muscat: The MSX index closed at 4,119.76 points, down by 0.33 per cent from previous close. The Sharia Index ended down by 0.22 per cent at 463.52 points.
Gulf Mushroom Products, up 8.5 per cent, was the top gainer while, Al Omaniya Financial Services, down 9.58 per cent, was the top loser. Shares of Bank Muscat were the most active in terms of number of shares traded as well as in terms of turnover.
A total number of 505 trades were executed during the day's trading session, generating turnover of OMR14.33 million, with more than 28.97 million shares changing hands. Out of 50 traded securities, 8 advanced, 14 declined, and 28 remained unchanged. At the session close, foreign investors were net sellers for OMR100,000 while domestic investors were net buyers for OMR68,888, followed by GCC & Arab investors for OMR31,000 worth of shares.
Financial Index closed at 6,525.4 points, down 0.65 per cent. Prices of United Finance and Muscat Finance were up by 4. per cent and 2.86 per cent respectively. Prices of Al Omaniya Financial Services, DIDIC, OMINVEST, Global Financial Investments and Oman United Insurance were down by 9.58 per cent, 7.9 per cent, 1.9 per cent, 1.43 per cent and 1.17 per cent respectively.
Industrial Index closed at 6,046.29 points, up 0.1 per cent. Prices of Gulf Mushroom Products, Oman Packaging, A'Saffa Foods, Construction Materials and Galfar Engineering were up by 8.5 per cent, 8.33 per cent, 7.81 per cent, 6.58 per cent and 4.81 per cent respectively. Prices of Raysut Cement, National Aluminium, Al Anwar Ceramics and Gulf International Chemicals were down by 1.77 per cent, 1.15 per cent, 0.93 per cent and 0.92 per cent respectively.
Services Index was down by 0.36 per cent before closing at 1,601.21 points. Oman National Engineering was the only gainer up by 0.96 per cent. Prices of National Gas, Renaissance Services, Al Jazeera Services, OIFC and Ooredoo were down by 1.41 per cent, 1.4 per cent, 0.74 per cent, 0.69 per cent and 0.61 per cent respectively.
