Omani secures membership in UN's CRC

Muscat: An Omani woman has secured membership in the Committee on the Rights of the Child (CRC) at the United Nations.

The Ministry of Foreign said: "We congratulate Professor Dr. Thuwaiba Ahmed Al Barwaniya for winning membership in the Committee on the Rights of the Child and obtaining a majority vote, within the meeting of the States Parties to the Convention on the Rights of the Child in New York, with our best wishes for success and success."

According to United Nations Human Rights, The Committee on the Rights of the Child (CRC) is the body of 18 independent experts that monitors implementation of the Convention on the Rights of the Child by its States parties. It also monitors implementation of the Optional Protocols to the Convention, in the involvement of children in armed conflict and on the sale of children, child prostitution and child pornography.
