Dull trading on Muscat bourse

Muscat: MSM 30 Index witnessed subdued trading before Eid holidays, which closed at 5,811.82 points, down marginally by 0.01 per cent. The MSM Shariah Index gained 0.30 per cent to finish at 894.69 points.
Galfar Engineering was the most active in terms of volume while Bank Muscat was the most active turnover in terms of turnover. Al Jazeera Steel was the top gainer, up 5.14 per cent, while the top loser was Ahli Bank down 4.28 per cent.
Altogether 1,044 trades were executed on Monday, generating a turnover of OMR2.1 million with 10.5 million shares changing hands. Out of 38 traded securities, 16 advanced, 7 declined and 15 remained unchanged. At the close of the session, Omani investors were net buyers to the tune of OMR153,000 worth of share, while foreign investors were net sellers at OMR129,00. Arab and GCC investors, who were net sellers, sold shares amounting to OMR24,000.
Financial Index retreated 0.10 per cent to close at 7,320.60 points. Global Financial Investment, Takaful Oman, Al Madina Investments, Oman & Emirates Holding and Al Izz Bank gained 4.62 per cent, 3.39 per cent, 3.33 per cent, 2.22 per cent and 1.69 per cent respectively. Ahli Bank, United Finance, Al Madina Takaful and Al Anwar Holding declined 4.28 per cent, 1.95 per cent, 1.33 per cent and 0.56 per cent respectively.
Industrial Index ended positively at 7,468.07 points, up 0.64 per cent. Al Jazeera Steel, Oman Fisheries, Raysut Cement, Gulf International Chemicals and Oman Cement gained 5.14 per cent, 3.28 per cent, 1.53 per cent, 1.20 per cent and 0.42 per cent respectively. Galfar Engineering, down 0.90 per cent was the only loser.
Services Index declined 0.03 per cent to end at 3,247.93 points. Renaissance Services, National Gas and Omantel increased 2.03 per cent, 0.35 per cent and 0.31 per cent respectively. Al Suwadi Power and Al Jazeera Services declined 2.40 per cent and 1.38 per cent respectively.
