Cairo: A delegation from the State Council participated on Saturday in the activities of the 5th conference of the Speakers of the Arab Councils and Parliaments as part of the Council of Oman’s representative from the Sultanate.
The conference was held at the Headquarters of the Arab League in Cairo with the participation of the speakers of the Arab Councils and parliaments in the presence of Arab, regional and international organisations.
The conference discussed the draft document of the parliamentary vision for enhancement of Arab food security.
The draft document comprised a number of pillars including the challenges facing Arab food security and the recommendations to face such challenges among other issues.
Dr. Badria bint Ibrahim Al Shahi, Vice Chairperson of the State Council gave a speech in which she expressed the Sultanate’s condolences for the Syrian people and the families of the victims of the earthquake along with support of the Sultanate’s for the Syrian people.
In her speech, she also stressed the Sultanate’s support to all forms of cooperation and solidarity in all Arab causes, which reflects the vision of the wise leadership of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, for the sake of security and stability of the Arab countries.
She said that the Sultanate of Oman seeks to extend bridges of cooperation and develop its relations with other countries in a way that enables coordination of Arab stances in the international arena.
