OCCI, ICAI join hands to launch CFO leadership programme

Muscat: The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) Muscat Chapter (Under the sponsorship of the College of Banking and Financial Studies (CBFS), in collaboration with the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) has launched a unique programme to empower potential Omanis in public and private sector organisations.

The key objective of the CFO (Chief Financial Officer) leadership programme is to train and develop strategic leadership capabilities among potential Omanis, and attract citizens to leadership positions in the accounting profession in large numbers.

The OCCI-ICAI initiative is expected to promote the overall business and investment environment and the quality of the accounting profession among Omanis.

Faisal bin Abdullah Al Rawas, Chairman of OCCI; Dr Abdullah Masoud Al Harthy, OCCI Board Member; CA Aniket Sunil Talati, President of ICAI, CA Ranjeet Kumar Agarwal; CA. Sajeev Surendran, ICAI Muscat Chapter Chairperson; and Jim Joseph Itty, Vice Chairperson, exchanged documents in the presence of various dignitaries from the public and private sectors at the Sheraton Oman Hotel here to mark the launch of the CFO Programme.

"It is a unique opportunity for the citizens to come forward and acquire strategic skills and actual knowledge, and undertake the challenging but reputable role of CFOs in public and private sectors. All credit goes to OCCI for the excellent cooperation and support extended to ICAI in our endeavours to launch the much-awaited CFO programme. We, at ICAI, are fully committed to delivering excellence to potential Omanis," Sajeev Surendran said.

ICAI Muscat, he said, will continue to enhance its presence by organising informative and productive seminars and conferences to boost the investment environment and business opportunities in Oman for Indian investors.

The event celebrated the prestigious Best Chapter Overseas Award conferred on the Muscat Chapter, by honouring CBFS for its valuable guidance and immeasurable support. CA Aniket Sunil Talati, President of ICAI presented the prestigious Best Overseas Chapter Award to CBFS Dean Dr Zahran bin Salim Al Salti.

OCCI board member Abdul Latheef (Managing Director of Badr Al Samaa Group of Hospitals) also attended the occasion.

During the event, a beneficial programme for ICAI members was also launched.
