Gas leak accident: Health Ministry follows up on treatment of victims

Muscat: The Sultanate of Oman's Ministry of Health (MOH), represented by the Directorate General of Health Services, is following upon the health condition of those infected in the gas leak accident that took place in North Al-Batinah on Tuesday, May 9, 2023.

According to MOH, a total of 42 cases are being dealt with, in which people have been 16 being admitted, and two cases are in the ICU.

In this regard, MOH said that it would like to thank the Crises & Emergency Committee, medical and para-medical staff in Sohar Hospital, as well as the health institutions in North Al-Batinah Governorate for their efforts and quick response to this incident, which had a significant impact in reducing the severity of injuries.

It is worth noting that, the Civil Defence and Ambulance Authority (CDAA) had said that 42 injuries ranging from moderate to critical were recorded as a result of a dangerous gas leak at a site in Muwailih Industrial City.
