Muscat: Fahud station in Al Dhahirah Governorate has recorded the highest temperature -- beyond 50 degrees Celsius -- in the Sultanate of Oman on Saturday.
Oman Meteorology said in a statement: "Yesterday, desert areas witnessed a noticeable rise in maximum temperatures ranging between the mid-40s and early 50s."
According to the Meteorology department, Fahud station recorded 50.5 degrees Celsius as the highest temperature among all the weather stations during the last 24 hours. It was followed by Hamra Ad Duru which located also in the same governorate with 49.1 degrees Celsius and Sunaynah station in Al Buraimi Governorate with 48.5 degrees Celsius. Ibri station, Al Dhahirah Governorate has recorded a temperature of 48.4 degrees Celsius.
The temperature in Maqshin station, Dhofar Governorate reached 47.5 degrees Celsius, while both Haima and Jazer stations in Al Wusta Governorate recorded 47.0 degrees Celsius. 46.9 degrees Celsius was the temperature recorded in Izki station, Al Dakhiliyah Governorate.
