Muscat: Organising Committee of Omani Products Exhibition (Opex) held a coordination meeting with business owners on Sunday at Waljat College of Applied Sciences in the Knowledge Oasis Muscat.
The meeting was organised to discuss preparations efforts for the upcoming Opex event which will take place from September 26 to 30, 2016 in Tehran, Iran. The companies were acquainted with the participation process, the advantages and offered support that will be enjoyed by the participants in the event. The exhibition aims at reflecting the progress and development witnessed by the industrial sector in Oman.
Fahmy Al Hinai, honorary consul of Ethiopia in Oman and Vice Chairman of Opex Organising Committee noted that the success of Opex in Ethiopia left a positive impact not only on the level of participating companies and factories, but also on the national economy.
"Members of the committee had recently a field visit to Tehran to follow up with the preparation efforts for the event. The committee will ensure that business owners from Iran and surrounding countries with emerging markets will be invited to the event. The committee also aims at providing certain facilities related to translation, and hotel and airline offers," Al Hinai pointed out.
Organised by a committee formed by Public Establishment for Industrial Estates (PEIE), Public Authority for Investment Promotion and Export Development (Ithraa), and Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI), the Omani Products Exhibition in Iran endeavours to further promote and advance Omani products and boost trade relations with Iran.
It should be noted that Iran enjoys dynamic local markets and a significant population touching around 77.45 million people according to 2013 census. The event aspires at enhancing trade ties between Oman and Iran following the lifting of international sanctions on the latter.
The participating companies will complement the joined efforts of PEIE, Ithraa and OCCI to promote the Omani products and advance exportsto Iran.The event will offer visitors the opportunity to be acquainted with the Omani products under one platform. The event will also witness b2b meetings and interactions between the Omani industrialists and their Iranian counterparts.
It is worth mentioning that the last edition of Opex was organised in the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa this year, where more than 100 Omani firms took part in the event representing various industries including natural resources, minerals, wood products, manufacturing products, furniture, food, medical and pharmaceuticals, fertilizers, plastic and metal equipment, perfume, leather, and logistics.
Opex events were also held previously in Riyadh – Saudi Arabia in 2012, Doha – Qatar in 2013, Dubai – UAE in 2014, and Jeddah – Saudi Arabia in 2015.
