Muscat: More than 35 expatriates have been arrested for violating the Labour Law, after the Ministry of Labour carried out an inspection campaign for residential apartments of expats in the Wilayat of Seeb, Muscat Governorate.
Labour Ministry said in a statement: "In order to follow up on the expatriate workforce and the extent of their compliance with the provisions of the Labour Law, the Ministry of Labour, represented by the Directorate General of Labour Welfare (joint inspection team), carried out an inspection campaign in the Wilayat of Seeb for residential apartments in which unlicensed work is practiced."
"These apartments were used to prepare unhealthy meals for restaurants and other acts contrary to public morals. 36 female workers and 4 male workers violating the provisions of the Labour Law were arrested. Legal measures are being taken against them," the statement added.
