Muscat: Oman Football Association (OFA) officials have been nominated to various committees under the official organising body of the 23rd Arabian Gulf Cup Football to be held in Doha, Qatar in December 2017.
According to communiqué received from the Oman Football Association on Sunday, the decision to constitute the committees was taken during the special meeting held in Doha recently.
OFA's vice-chairman Saleh Abdullah Al Farsi will head the finance committee of the Gulf Cup, while the legal committee will be under Kuwait's Dr Abdullah Al Hayan, while OFA's Ibrahim Al Akhazami is also named a member.
OFA's Sultan Al Zadjali was included in the marketing committee headed by Saudi Arabia's Mohammed Al Nuaiser.
Omans Professional League's chief executive Sheikh Shabib Hilal Al Hosni was named in the competitions committee under the chairmanship of Yemen's Dr. Humaid Al Shebani.
It is to be recalled that Sheikh Hamed Khalifa Ahmed Al Thani, the chairman of Qatar Football Association, was elected as head of Arab Gulf Cup Organising Committee during the previous meeting on May 21 in Doha.
Kuwait was set to host the 2016 edition after Iraq withdrew from hosting, but due to their FIFA suspension it was moved to Qatar in December 2017.
The 23rd edition was originally scheduled to be held in Basra, Iraq.
In October last year, Kuwait withdrew from hosting following Kuwait Football Association's suspension by FIFA.
