Muscat: A team of dancers from Oman posted a perfect score and won a global dance championship in Spain, the organisers said.
The students of Delicious Dance Academy (DDA) participated in the global dance open championship in Spain recently.
The competition started from 19 July and continued till 22 July, 2023.
The team successfully bagged two gold and one bronze medals for Oman.
In the senior category, the team got gold with a score of 97.5 while in the junior category, they got gold with a score of 86.5.
Shivika Bhatt in solo senior claimed bronze with a score of 89.65. Adding cherry on the cake was the zero degree team receiving cash prizes and became second topper overall amongst more than 1,000 entries across 35 countries which included, USA , Canada , Spain, Portugal, Belgium, Gibraltar , Canary Islands, New Zealand, UAE, Qatar, Japan. Germany etc.
The DDA students had attended the qualifying round of this competition in May in Qatar and were declared the overall topper by a winning score of 96.67.
A team of 69 people travelled to Spain out of which around which 23 students participated in three categories.
“We expected to win in some categories, but never expected to be the overall champions. We are proud to say that we could manage to place Oman as the global Champions in such a huge platform of Global Dance Open,” said Deepthi Suresh of DDA.
The organisers said that four months of hard work has paid off. “Indeed it is a proud moment for all of us,” Deepthi added.
