Parts of Oman may witness rainfall

Muscat: Rainfall ranging between 10-35 mm associated with downdraft winds are expected in parts of the Sultanate of Oman from 1 pm till 10 pm on Wednesday, August 16, 2023 ,said Oman Meteorology.

According to Oman Meteorology, the affected areas that may witness thunderstorms and rainfall are the mountainous areas of South Al Batinah, Al Dakhiliyah, Al Dhahira, Al Buraimi, North Al Sharqiyah and Dhofar governorates

 "The expected impacts are rainfalls ranging between 10-35 mm, downdraft winds of 20-35 knots, poor horizontal visibility due to duststorms during thundershowers and chances of overflowing valleys," Oman Meteorology added.

Oman Meteorology has advised people to move away from low-lying areas, not to attempt to swim in valleys.  It has also been recommended for people to supervise their children and make sure they stay away from approaching or crossing valleys in order to ensure safety.
