Bank Muscat Ideathon camp educates children about entrepreneurship

Bank Muscat, the leading financial services provider in the Sultanate, recently organized part 2 of the Educational Camp “Ideathon” for over 70 participants from the bank’s employees’ children aged 12 to 15 years. The event aimed to introduce children to the basics of entrepreneurship and innovation, encourage them to use their talents in projects’ planning, help them to set up business and develop innovative marketing plans as well as teach them the importance of giving and donating to those in need.   

The camp, which came in coincidence with the World Investor Week, falling on the beginning of October every year, witnessed a great interaction between the participants who came from various willayats of the Sultanate. It was a chance to exchange ideas and share knowledge. Representing a part of Bank Muscat's social responsibility programs, the event focused on teaching children about giving, promoting their skills of analyzing ideas and projects’ selection, as well as equipping them with teamwork skills. 

Participants were also briefed about mechanism of creating products’ layout in the best possible way and with a competitive advantage. The camp included entertainment activities and a competition on setting up the best business where winners were announced.

Ideathon is the second part of Bank Muscat Educational Camp which aimed to educate children about financial literacy in a fun way, including budgeting, saving, investing and giving back to society.

Bank Muscat is keen to target all segments of society through all the programs and services it offers throughout the year including programs related to enhancing understanding about financial affairs management.  "Maliyat" program, for example, focuses on various aspects of financial culture, like mastering financial principles and concepts such as financial planning, track of spending, investment, income, debt management, savings and planning for the future. "Irshad” program, however, provides financial coaching and guidance to SMEs, startup companies, entrepreneurs, and individuals with respect to managing their finances and future financial planning.
