The ROP had announced on July 18 that Obaid Ali Al Mamari, a resident of Al Dariz village in Ibri was missing. The police urged the public to report to the emergency number 9999, if anyone saw Al Mamari.
The police also issued a photo of the missing old man to ease the search process. The Ibri police station had also received a report from the missing nephew in this case on July 14 and immediately started a search operation.
The nephew stated in the report that his uncle lived with his family and had no sons or daughters. He usually went for a walk and returned home after some time, but this time he did not return.
A number of Al Dariz area residents formed search teams to look for the missing man in coordination with the Ibri police station and also spread the missing news in social media.
The body was transferred to the forensic laboratory in Muscat to investigate the reason behind the death as primarily there is no crime suspected in this case, the ROP source said.
