New downtown area in Muscat to have 40-floor towers

Muscat: Zaha Hadid Architects is the consultancy firm chosen to provide services for the detailed master plan and engineering design for the Downtown and waterfront development at Al Khuwair, Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning announced on Thursday.  

The Ministry has begun the design phase of the “Downtown Al Khuwair” project, which is likely to take 12 months, and through which it aims to create a waterfront and a distinguished landmark.

According to His Excellency Dr. Khalfan bin Saeed Al  Shuaili, Minister of Housing and Urban Planning, the total area for the project is 38,000 sq m.   

He added that, the project will include approximately 40 towers, ranging in height from 35 to 40 floors each.
