Muscat: Continuing its momentum, the Oman Convention & Exhibition Centre (OCEC) has added another key business event to its busy forward calendar by signing an agreement to hold the fourth edition of OmanPlast, the Sultanate’s leading plastics and petrochemicals event.
Organised by Silver Star Corporation and supported by Riyada, the specialist expo is scheduled to take place from March 21 to 23, 2017. Anticipated to attract more than 5,000 visitors and over 100 companies from countries including China, Egypt, Germany, India, Italy, Iran, Korea, Lebanon, Malaysia, Pakistan and the UAE, OmanPlast will showcase the latest plastic and petrochemical products, technology and innovations.
The exhibition will also introduce Oman’s future focused and outward looking small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in the sector to the world, and provide an exceptional forum for industry leaders to meet, network, and exchange ideas.
Speaking at the signing of the agreement, OCEC general manager Trevor McCartney said: “The OCEC is particularly pleased to welcome OmanPlast, a platform for an industry of great importance to Oman’s economic diversification strategy.
“The cutting edge facilities of the Centre, the space afforded by its five superbly equipped exhibition halls, and its international reach, will help OmanPlast to expand and develop, and in doing so focus the global spotlight on the country’s dynamic Plastics and Petrochemicals industry and its ambitious growth plans,” he added.
“Delivering significant commercial opportunities and providing benefits to the broader economy, events such as OmanPlast have wide-ranging impact for the Sultanate. By bringing together major players in the industry, they spur progress and power development,” he said.
An integral part of Oman’s economic evolution, the OCEC is generating substantial interest from sectors like Plastics and Petrochemicals, that are pivotal to the realisation of the Sultanate’s diversification strategy, Vision 2020 and crucial to the nation’s on-going prosperity.”
Noting that discussions with the OCEC on maximising the domestic, regional and international impact of OmanPlast, had already begun, P. D.
