Heavy rainfall forecast for Oman, people advised not to cross wadis

Muscat: Heavy thundershowers associated with downdraft, fresh winds and hail are expected from Thursday morning over the governorates of North Al Batinah, Al Dhahirah and Al Buraimi and gradually extending towards South Al Batinah, Muscat, Al Dakhiliyah, North Al Sharqiyah, and South Al Sharqiyah governorates in the afternoon.

In wake of the rainfall alert, the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) advises all to take precaution during thundershowers, avoid crossing wadis (flash flood) and low laying areas and avoid venturing into the sea during alert period.

The precipitation is predicted to be ranging from 20 mm to 50 mm which may cause flash flood. -With ONA inputs
