Flow of water from dams in  Al Buraimi being monitored

Mahda: The rainfall stations of the Directorate General of Agriculture and Water Resources in Al Buraimi Governorate recorded rainwater exceeding 60mm.

Zayed bin Khalifa Al Jabri, head of agricultural and Water Resources Development in the Wilayat of Mahda, said that the department has taken necessary precautionary measures before the unusual weather condition including the discharge of water from the dams to avoid any floods.

Currently, the rate of flow from six dams in Mahda in Al Buraimi Governorate was 3.011 million cubic metres of water. The dams are located in Mahda, Abu Qala’a, Masah, Haywan, Misailik and Al Juwaif.

He said that a field visit to all dams would be made following the fading away of the weather condition to ensure the quantity of retained water, the water level , the safety of the dams and to register the details for preparing the necessary reports.

He said that 64 mm of rain fell in the Wilayat of Mahda, 53mm in the Wilayat of Al Buraimi, and 24 mm in the Wilayat of Al Sinainah.
