Muscat: The UN envoy to Yemen has expressed the United Nations’ gratitude for the Sultanate of Oman's role and support to achieve lasting peace and stability in the Republic of Yemen, and the establishment of strong peaceful relations between it and all of its neighbours.
This came during the meeting that was held by His Excellency Oman's Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the United Nations in New York.
His Excellency Hans Grundberg, the UN Special Envoy to Yemen, met with His Excellency Ambassador Dr. Muhammad bin Awad Al Hassan, the Permanent Representative of the Sultanate of Oman to the United Nations, in New York, within the framework of submitting his periodic report to the United Nations on developments in the situation in the sisterly Republic of Yemen.
During the meeting at the headquarters of the permanent delegation of the Sultanate of Oman to the United Nations, His Excellency the UN envoy expressed once again the United Nations’ gratitude for the Omani role in supporting the achievement of lasting peace and stability in the Republic of Yemen, adding that the Omani efforts are indispensable to the international community, especially since they emphasize the unity and Stabilizing Yemen towards establishing strong, peaceful relations between it and the rest of its neighbors and surroundings.
His Excellency also expressed his optimism about the possibility of achieving progress in the peaceful negotiating process of the Sultanate of Oman towards restoring security and stability throughout Yemen. It should be noted that the meeting comes within the framework of exchanging views prior to the briefing that the UN Special Envoy to Yemen is scheduled to present to members of the Security Council on developments in the situation in the Republic of Yemen.
The meeting was attended by members of the Office of the UN Special Envoy to Yemen and Counselor Khalid bin Saleh Al-Rabkhi, Deputy Permanent Representative of the Sultanate of Oman to the United Nations in New York.
