Sri Lanka introduces new e-Visa scheme

With effect from 17thApril 2024, all Tourist or Business travelers to Sri Lanka must have an e-Visa for entering Sri Lanka by applying at the official website https://www.srilankaevisa.lk

The visitors should register at the official website and apply online. When applying for an e-Visa through third parties, payments should be made only through official website https://www.srilankaevisa.lk Therefore, it is the applicant’s responsibility to always ensure that the payments are made by accessing the official e-Visa website,in order to avoid repayments or scamming by third parties.

The previous visa scheme, Electronic Travel Authority (ETA), has been discontinued from 16th April 2024.

On the basis of reciprocity, citizens of Singapore, Maldives, Seychelles and Czech Republic are exempted from the requirement of obtaining tourist standard 6-months e-Visa to visit Sri Lanka.Travelers of certain nationalities cannot avail e-Visa and should apply for a visit visa at the nearest Sri Lankan Mission or at the Department of Immigration and Emigration.All passengers on transit in Sri Lanka are eligible for an e-Visa waiver, if transiting through any of the Sri Lankan airports. The waiver is valid for a maximum of 2-day transit period only.

All tourist/business travelers should carry printed copy of the e-Visa approval issued by the Sri Lanka Department of Immigration and Emigration, passport with at least six months validity from the date of entry and return ticket or proof of onward travel from Sri Lanka.
