Omani-Brazilian Investment Forum focuses on clean energy, food security

Muscat: The Sultanate of Oman and the Federative Republic of Brazil on Tuesday celebrated the 50th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations by organising the Omani-Brazilian Investment Forum, which began in Muscat.

The opening ceremony was held under the auspices of Salim Mohammed Al Mahrouqi, Minister of Heritage and Tourism. It was attended by representatives of private sector companies in both countries.

The two-day forum focused on investment, clean energy, re-export, heavy industries, food security and information technology, in addition to exchanging expertise in the fields of research, innovation, agriculture, space and mining.

In a speech on the occasion, Brazilian Minister of Tourism Celso Sabino Oliveira stressed the need to consolidate partnerships in investment and economic sectors. He underlined the importance of highlighting successful commercial experiences and intensifying cooperation between the two sides.

For his part, Pankaj Khimji, Adviser for Foreign Trade and International Cooperation at the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion, said that the forum “affirms the depth of diplomatic relations between Oman and Brazil. He added that the event constituted an opportunity to showcase Oman’s business and investment environment”.

A multi-sectoral expo titled “Made in Brazil” showcased the products and services of Brazilian companies and factories.

Explore the potential

It also offered an opportunity to explore the potential of the Omani market and study means of benefiting from Omani free zones and their role in re-exporting goods to countries in Asia, East and North Africa.

During the forum, Omani entrepreneurs held B2B meetings with their Brazilian counterparts. -ONA
