Muscat: Salalah heavyweights Dhofar etched their name in the annals of Sultanate's football history as they claimed the coveted His Majesty's Cup title for the 11th time on Friday.
In an entertaining final played against holders Al Nahda at the Khasab Sports Complex in Musandam Governorate, Dhofar cruised to a 2-0 win to regain the crown they last won in 2021.
With this win, Dhofar became the most decorated club in Oman as they have a combined total of 22 titles of Omantel League and HM's Cup with an equal number of trophies.
The last time Dhofar won HM's Cup was in 2021, while the top-flight league crown was won in 2019.
Besides, the 22 trophies of League and HM's Cup, the Salalah powerhouse, have won three Oman Super Cup and twice Oman Professional League Cup.
In HM's Cup history, the dominance of Salalah clubs can be demonstrated with the fact that a total of 16 titles have been shared by Dhofar and Al Nasr (5).
Dhofar's first title was earned way back in 1977, while the first edition was held in 1972 with Al Ahli crowned the champion.
Later, the chief guest, Sayyid Ibrahim bin Said Al Busaidy, Governor of Musandam, presented the glittering trophy to Dhofar captain in the presence of top dignitaries from Oman Football Association and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth.
