People urged to donate platelets in Oman

Muscat: The Department of Blood Banks Services (DBBS) has urged people to donate platelets at the Central Blood Bank in Baushar during the Eid holidays.

DBBS said in a statement :"Given that there are a number of medical conditions that require platelets during the Eid holidays, we invite you to donate platelets during the holiday period."

"Conditions for platelet donation :

 1. The donor must be in good health.

2. The weight must be more than (50 kg).

 3. The hemoglobin level must be normal.

 4. The age of the donor must be between (18-60 years).

 5. The donor must have donated blood at least twice during the last two years without any complications during or after donating, dizziness and fainting.

6. More than a month has passed since the last blood donation. 

7. The donor must not have taken pain relievers other than those containing aspirin during the past 10 days."

" The donation timings are from Saturday to Thursday from 8 am till 6 pm and on Friday from 8 am till 1 pm. Book your appointment to donate platelets at the Central Blood Bank in Baushar via WhatsApp: 94555648," DBBS added.
