Muscat: In recognition of its outstanding contributions to corporate social responsibility, Petroleum Development Oman (PDO) received five awards at the Second GCC International Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Conference and Awards 2024, held in the Kingdom of Bahrain. The event was organised by the Bahrain CSR Society in partnership with the Eastern Province Council for Social Responsibility from Saudi Arabia.
The company secured first place in the categories of Excellence in International CSR and Excellence in Community Social Service. Additionally, it obtained second place in the categories of Excellence in Environmental Sustainable Development and Excellence in Community Social Development.
Engineer Abdul-Amir bin Abdul-Hussein Al Ajmi, External Affairs and Value Creation Director at PDO, was honoured with the Excellence in CSR-Community Builder Award for individuals.
Commenting on the accolades received, Eng. Mohammed bin Ahmed bin Mohsin Al Ghareebi, External Affairs, Communication and Social Investment Manager at PDO, said: “PDO’s acceptance of these prestigious awards exemplifies our commitment to socially and environmentally responsible practices, which align with the comprehensive goals of sustainable development and the priorities of Oman Vision 2040. PDO’s dedication towards social responsibility extends beyond awards. In the past year, PDO committed to 95 new projects within its Social Investment Programme, with a total value of approximately US$13 million. These projects encompassed various themes such as health, safety and environment, education, youth and women empowerment, and community welfare. Over the past decade, the total value of CSR projects implemented by PDO has amounted to approximately US$130 million.
