McLaughlin-Levrone breaks world 400m hurdles record again

WASHINGTON: Olympic Champion Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone set another world 400m hurdles record by winning in 50.65 seconds at the US Trials in Eugene on Sunday.

With a record four women finishing inside 53 seconds, McLaughlin-Levrone still managed to win by almost two seconds. Anna Cockrell ranked second in a personal best of 52.64, while Jasmine Jones took third in a PB of 52.77, 0.21 ahead of Shamier Little in fourth.

McLaughlin-Levrone had set world records five times, as the 24-year-old first set the world record in 2021 with 51.90. She rode the momentum to shave nearly half a second off her previous mark to 51.46 to win the Olympic title in Tokyo. One year later, she once again set a world record with 51.41 before winning the 2022 world title in Oregon in 50.68.

Dramatically, four of her five world records have now been set at Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon.
