Muscat: In preparation for the Khareef Dhofar season 2024, the Dhofar Governorate Police Command is implementing a number of security measures with regard to tourism events and activities in the governorate, with support from various Royal Oman Police formations.
Brigadier Saeed bin Hamad Al Balushi, Commander of the Dhofar Governorate Police, said :" The General Police Command is keen to provide support to the Dhofar Governorate Police Command to enhance the police presence in all tourist sites in the governorate and ensure the quality of services provided."
Al Balushi added that the relevant committees of the Royal Oman Police held several meetings and conducted field visits to determine all the needs and requirements for security and traffic procedures at tourist sites during the Khareef season.
The Brigadier General, Commander of Dhofar Governorate Police, explained that special measures have been taken to deal with the expected increase in the number of tourists during this season in coordination with the concerned authorities to ensure the safety of visitors and ensure the smooth flow of traffic on the roads leading to tourist attractions and event sites.
Al Balushi pointed to the existing coordination with other government agencies to maintain the safety of citizens and visitors visiting tourist sites. In addition to ensuring the availability of safety standards in barriers installed in high and dangerous places, alerting operating companies to ensure the suitability of electric toys, and setting warning regulations.
Brigadier Saeed bin Hamad Al Balushi, Dhofar Governorate Police Commander, confirmed the presence of police officers along the roads leading to Dhofar Governorate to ensure the safety of road users and provide immediate assistance to them in emergency situations. In addition to the presence of Civil Defence and Ambulance teams and Coast Guard police patrols at the beaches and springs to raise awareness, deal with reports immediately, and carry out rescue operations, in addition to conducting mounted police patrols on beaches, various tourist sites and hard-to-reach places.
The Dhofar Governorate Police Commander called on vehicle drivers to adhere to traffic regulations and rules and take into account safety requirements, by inspecting vehicles and performing the necessary maintenance on them before traveling to Dhofar Governorate, adhering to the speed limit, not overtaking in prohibited places, leaving a safe distance between vehicles, and not being distracted by using a mobile phone while driving.
