Muscat: Visitors to Salalah will get a first taste of the Khareef meal as they enter the Salalah Airport terminal this season.
Oman Airport Management Company (OAMC) organised an exhibition which is set to continue until the end of the Khareef season inside the terminal.
Arriving passengers will be treated to the exhibition, promoting Salalah and its many natural tourism sites, as well as have the opportunity to learn about the holiday season.
Also, brochures and booklets will be available for passengers to receive additional insights into the season.
Passengers and travellers walking through the terminal will also be entertained by a traditional folklore band and dancing.
Total passenger movement through Salalah Airport during June 2016 reached 73,564, compared to 74,289 in 2015, being a 1 percent decrease.
Civil aircraft movement in Salalah also recorded a 2 percent decrease in 2016, with 828 aircraft, compared to 846 in 2015. Aircraft movement has been steadily decreasing due to the national carrier’s strategy of flying fewer, but larger aircraft, to the south of Oman.
However, Muscat International Airport recorded an 11 percent increase in passenger movement, with 885,549 passengers in 2016, compared to 799,769 in 2015. Between January to June 2016, a total of 5,694,468 passengers visited the airport. Civil aircraft movement also increased by 6 percent, with 8,213 recorded in 2016, compared to 2015 with 7,756.
At Duqm airport, OAMC data indicates that the airport is steadily booming, with 1949 passengers travelling to and from the airport, which is a 58 percent increase compared to 1235 last year.
Civil aircraft movement also recorded a two aircraft increase in 2016 with 36 recorded in 2016.
