Muscat: Sayyid Badr Hamad Al Busaidi, Foreign Minister, affirmed in a telephone call with the head of Hamas Group about the Sultanate of Oman’s firm support for the Palestinian cause, and the necessity of intensifying efforts to achieve a just and comprehensive peace that guarantees the rights of the brotherly Palestinian people to establish their independent state with East Jerusalem as capital.
Sayyid Badr made a telephone call to Khaled Meshal, Head of the Hamas movement abroad, in which he expressed his sincere condolences and sympathy over the death of Ismail Haniyeh, head of the political bureau of the Hamas movement.
He recalled the great role played by the late Ismail Haniyeh in the struggle for the rights of the Palestinian people and their fight for their just cause.
He emphasised Oman’s firm and supportive position on the Palestinian issue and the necessity of continuing to intensify efforts to achieve a just and comprehensive peace that guarantees the rights of the brotherly Palestinian people to establish their independent state with East Jerusalem as its capital.
He also stressed that the shameful assassination undermines the mediation and peace efforts made by the active parties in the region, through which the Hamas movement expressed its willingness to reach a ceasefire agreement.
For his part, Khaled Mishal expressed his thanks and gratitude for the condolences and sympathy of the Sultanate of Oman’s leadership and people, praising the Omani support towards the Palestinian issue and its justice.
