Muscat: In Match 4 of the T Quiz League Season 1, the stage was set for a face-off between A’soud Global School (AGS) and Indian School Ghubra (ISG). Filmed at the prestigious Downe House Muscat, this episode brought together a seasoned quizzing powerhouse and a new contender eager to make its mark.
Indian School Ghubra, represented by Ardra, Issam, and Aakash, coached by Ms. Sheeba Nair, entered the match with a strong history of quizzing success. As past winners of the Times of Oman quiz, ISG was the team to beat. On the other side, A’soud Global School, represented by Ione, Dilan, and Mohamed, and coached by Ms. Kay Frame and Ms. Maxine Bradley, brought fresh energy and determination to the competition, hoping to inspire a new generation of quizzers and build their own legacy.
Adding to the excitement of Match 4, Ms. Suaad Al Zaabi, Vice Principal of Downe House Muscat, made a special appearance to present a category in the "Testing Times" round. The TQL team was delighted to have her participate, further enriching the experience for the students and audience alike.
Engaging Questions Test Knowledge
The teams faced a variety of thought-provoking questions that tested their knowledge on both local and global topics. One question focused on Omani wildlife: "The brown-spotted grouper is a common fish found in Omani waters. What is its local name?" The correct answer, "hamoor," highlighted the importance of understanding local culture and environment.
Another question turned attention to environmental awareness: "Recycle forms a trio with these two verbs to make up the three Rs of the environment." The answer, "reduce" and "reuse," underscored the significance of sustainability and eco-friendly practices in today’s world.
