Pact worth over OMR9mn inked for Al Mughsayl road project

Muscat: The Ministry of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology has signed an agreement on Wednesday for the construction of the Al Mughsayl Road and Bridge project, with a total cost exceeding OMR 9 million.

The agreement was signed by His Excellency Engineer Said bin Hamoud Al Maawali, Minister of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology, while Engineer Syed Azher from AZ Engineers signed on behalf of the company, with the presence of the Ministry’s Undersecretary for Transport.

The project involves the construction of a concrete bridge measuring 630 metres in length, supported by 20 piers and two side abutments , each 13 metres high.

The bridge will feature six decorative arches, with the two largest arches rising to 45.9 metres and the remaining arches to 35.9 metres.

Additionally, the bridge will include parking areas on both sides and a smooth pedestrian walkway with lighting, varying in width from 2 to 7 metres.

The project also includes the creation of an at-grade crossing to facilitate access to other tourist sites.

This project will enhance traffic flow from Salalah to the western districts of Dhofar Governorate (Rakhyout and Dhalkut) and is significant as an international route leading to the border crossing with the Republic of Yemen.

Notably, the bridge site holds tourist significance due to its proximity to Marneef Cave, Mughsayl Fountains, and the Mughsayl beachfront.
