Muscat: His Excellency Sayyid Badr Hamad Al Busaidi, Foreign Minister of the Sultanate of Oman has stressed that there is a “moral obligation” on Western powers to force Israel to end its attacks in the Middle East, and to play a greater role that is “more than just a policy of persuasion and there must be some kind of restrictions imposed on Israel to stop its aggression”.
His Excellency indicated in a statement to the British newspaper, the Financial Times, that the United States of America and many other countries tried to convince the Israeli leadership to stop the attacks, reach a ceasefire and return to the political process, but unfortunately we did not see any effect of that.
His Excellency calls on Western countries to abandon the Cold War habit of unconditional support for Israel and that there are peaceful means of pressure that these countries, which are the closest friends of Israel, can use, citing the decisions of "France and the United Kingdom to limit arms sales.
His Excellency the Foreign Minister clarifies that Hezbollah and Hamas are not the cause of instability in the region, noting that dealing with Iran as a hostile power is in fact the Israeli Prime Minister’s agenda and no other country should follow suit.
