Muscat: With the participation of 200 media professionals through several workshops held in the governorates of Muscat and Dhofar, Omantel concluded its national initiative “Innovative Media,” aimed at supporting the digital economy in the Sultanate of Oman and enabling media professionals to keep pace with technical development through the usage of artificial intelligence technology.
Omantel launched this initiative last October in Muscat Governorate and concluded its tour in Dhofar Governorate. Media professionals from various institutions participated in the training workshops that included simulation and practical application of artificial intelligence tools in cooperation with Omantel Academy.
Commenting on the success of the initiative, Dr. Ghalib Saif Al Hosni, Chief People Officer at Omantel, said, “This successful conclusion of the initiative is part of Omantel’s strategy to shift to a leading integrated technology provider and to support the Sultanate’s efforts to make the digital economy a priority and a contributor to the national economy. At Omantel, we work to enhance and develop the capabilities of business sectors through many initiatives, including raising awareness of the importance of future technologies and the promising opportunities they pose for various sectors. To this end, we established Omantel Academy to boost digital skills in Oman and enhance competencies in many areas, the most important of which are artificial intelligence and cybersecurity.”

The initiative achieved remarkable success in line with its objectives. This was evident through the interaction of the participants with the content of the program, which included simulation and interactive practical applications focused on generative artificial intelligence, big data analysis, task automation, the podcast industry, text, image, and video generation, as well as translation and big data analysis, leading to the use of artificial intelligence drones. Participants were encouraged to work in groups during the workshops. The content of the program was carefully tailored to suit the participants, their professional backgrounds, and their aspirations for the training.”
