Muscat : The Environment Authority in Al Buraimi Governorate organised the "Green Capture" exhibition in cooperation with the Omani Society for Fine Arts.
The exhibition, which was held under the patronage of His Excellency Hilal bin Rashid Al Ghaithi, a member of the Shura Council representing the Wilayat of Al Buraimi, aimed to document wildlife and highlight its beauty in Al Buraimi Governorate, in addition to encouraging environmental observers and photographers to document wildlife in creative ways, and raise the level of environmental awareness among the local community about the importance of preserving wild animals and plants.
The exhibition was the result of a competition organised by the Authority that included three stages / receiving entries from community members via an electronic link and the number of participating photos exceeded 110 photos, most of which were from school students.
In the second stage, the competition targeted professional photographers and environmental observers, and the number of entries reached 56 photos.
In the third stage, an international jury selected 20 photos to be displayed in the exhibition of the Omani Society for Fine Arts in cooperation with the Department of Culture, Sports and Youth. The winners of the first three places were also announced during the ceremony, in addition to honoring the best five student works.
The Environment Authority also aims, through the “Green Capture” project, to document wildlife in Al Buraimi Governorate and the rest of the governorates of the Sultanate of Oman, and to hone the environmental and artistic talents of the participants.
