Oman Golf Trophy Grand Final: A grand stage for sports diplomacy and trade

MUSCAT: The Oman Golf Trophy Grand Final, to be hosted across three of Oman’s most prestigious golf courses, is set to blend sportsmanship, networking, and Omani hospitality, attracting participants and guests from seven key international markets.

The event will feature over 80 players, including 48 winners from qualifying tournaments in Italy, Austria, Germany, India, South Africa, Japan, and France, where 5,500 players competed. Participants will join diplomats, business leaders, media professionals, and members of Oman’s national golf team, underscoring the event’s ambition to foster long-term business, trade, and cultural relations.

Khalid Hashil Al Muslahi, Foreign Ministry Undersecretary for Administrative and Financial Affairs, emphasised the broader purpose of the event. He said: “The Oman Golf Trophy Grand Final brings together the best of international and local talent, uniting players and guests in a celebration of excellence, sportsmanship, and camaraderie. Leveraging Oman’s global appeal, we aim to support national goals by connecting sectors through sports.”

He highlighted Oman’s strategic location, within a seven-hour flight of half the world’s population, and its visa-free entry for over 100 countries as key enablers for global events, tourism, and business.

The tournament runs from December 9-12, beginning at Ghala Golf Club, followed by rounds at La Vie Golf Club and Al Mouj Golf. Guests will enjoy a cultural tour, visiting landmarks like Nizwa, Wadi Shab, and the Daymaniyat Islands, alongside networking dinners at Muscat’s Kempinski Hotel and Rozna Restaurant.

The opening round will be held at Ghala Golf Club on December 9 while competition resumes at La Vie Golf Club on December 11. The next day, the championship round will be held at Al Mouj Golf, followed by the awards ceremony.

The event is a unique initiative spearheaded by the Foreign Ministry in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth, the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism, and the Oman Golf Association.

The event is supported by various partners, including strategic partners Experience Oman, Ominvest, and the Saud Bahwan Group. Bronze partners are the Kempinski Hotel Muscat, Lovera, and the Oman Chamber of Commerce & Industry, along with official supporters Aster Royal Al Raffah Hospital, Qatar Airways, SeaOman, Tanuf, and Visit Oman.

By combining world-class golf with cultural immersion and strategic networking, the Oman Golf Trophy aims to deepen ties between nations and showcase Oman’s economic potential.

Through this initiative, Oman aims to establish itself as a hub for sports diplomacy, connecting cultures, and fostering international collaborations.
