Muscat: The Council of Ministers and the State Council today held a joint meeting at the premises of the Council of Ministers in Muscat.
HH Sayyid Fahd bin Mahmood Al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for the Council of Ministers, and some members of the Council of Ministers received Sheikh Abdulmalik bin Abdullah Al Khalili, Chairman of the State Council, and members of the State Council’s Office.
The meeting took place within the context of joint coordination between the Council of Ministers and the Council of Oman, as stipulated in the Basic Law of the State and the Law of the Council of Oman. It was held in pursuance of measures for supporting ongoing cooperation among all institutions in a manner that leads to the realization of the public interest.
At the outset of the meeting, HH Sayyid affirmed that the institutions of State operate in an integrated trend to implement economic and social plans and programmes, and contribute to Oman’s comprehensive development.
HH Sayyid Fahd explained that, in appreciation of the constructive role played by the State Council, the Council of Ministers is keen to keep the State Council regularly updated about the efforts made by the government in implementing the State’s general policies, improving performance and introducing modernization in all areas and sectors.
HH Sayyid Fahd added that the Council of Ministers values the State Council’s national expertise and experts who, he said, contribute to the preparation of studies that serve the public interest.
For their part, the State Council Chairman and members of the State Council Office commended the pace of constructive cooperation between the government and the Council. They stressed that the forthcoming stage will see more joint coordination with the Council of Ministers towards attaining the desired goals.
The two sides discussed mechanisms for supporting integration among state institutions, activating the role of the State Council in developing purposeful community awareness and the need to exert more efforts to safeguard the country’s accomplishments.
