Muscat: Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) today launched the 3rd edition of the Commercial Franchise Programme with the aim of qualifying business owners and preparing Omani companies to benefit from the advantages and opportunities of commercial franchise.
The ceremony was held under the auspices of HH Sayyid Dr. Kamil bin Fahd bin Mahmoud Al Said, Secretary General at the Secretariat General of the Council of Ministers.
Faisal bin Abdullah Al Rowas, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the OCCI, said that the Commercial Franchise Programme figures among key initiatives launched by the OCCI to serve the private sector, notably by qualifying business owners and preparing Omani companies to benefit from the advantages of commercial franchise.
He added that the step contributes to enhancing the competitiveness of the private sector at the local and global levels, much in line with the objectives of Oman Vision 2040. He pointed out that the OCCI seeks to support private sector establishments and enable them to enter new markets using commercial models ready for securing success.
For his part, Eng. Hamoud bin Salim Al Saadi, Chairman of the OCCI Branch in South Al Batinah Governorate, the Head of the Commercial Franchise Initiative said, “The Chamber is embarked on a programme to enhance the culture of commercial franchise in a manner that enables entrepreneurs to develop commercial projects and expand them locally and regionally.”
He added that the 3rd third edition of the Commercial Franchise Programme drew a large turnout in registration, reaching more than 450 participants. “This reflects the successes achieved by the programme,” he observed.
The head of the initiative explained that the second version of the programme included 14 consultations that benefited participating companies. It also included several training courses that benefited about 155 participants, in addition to nine field visits, he said, noting that six companies attained the final stage.
During the event, 6 commercial “franchise development” agreements were signed between the OCCI and the participating companies, in addition to 14 agreements to grant commercial franchise agreements locally and internationally. Six companies that were able to complete all stages of the commercial franchise requirements were felicitated during the ceremony.
During the ceremony, a working paper highlighted the importance of registering trademarks and the usufruct system.
