Oman, Belarus issue joint statement; pledge deeper cooperation in key sectors

Muscat: The Sultanate of Oman and the Republic of Belarus issued a joint statement on the occasion of the official visit of His Excellency President Alexander Lukashenko, President of the Republic of Belarus, to the Sultanate of Oman. 

Oman and Belarus affirmed their determination to strengthen bilateral relations, develop partnership in the economic, political and cultural fields, and identify a number of sectors to deepen the partnership. 

This joint statement highlights the key outcomes of President Lukashenko's official visit to Oman:

Strengthened Bilateral Relations: Both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing ties based on mutual respect and understanding.

Focus on Key Sectors: Identified areas for deepened partnership include clean energy, tourism, education, healthcare, technology, transportation, and logistics.

Economic Cooperation: Emphasis on industrial cooperation, including joint equipment assembly projects in Oman.

Agricultural Collaboration: Focus on food security, with a particular interest in dairy product production.

Facilitating Travel: Belarus welcomed the visa exemption for its citizens and both sides explored the possibility of direct flights and a mutual visa exemption agreement.

Regional and International Cooperation: Both leaders stressed the importance of international law and cooperation within the UN framework.

The visit appears to have laid a strong foundation for further strengthening the bilateral relationship between Oman and Belarus.
