Sohar: Represented by the College of Medicine and Health Sciences, the National University of Science and Technology (NU) held an annual white coat ceremony in Sohar for a new batch consisting of 150 future doctors.
The ceremony was held under the auspices of Dr. Ahmed Salim Al Mandhari, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health for Planning and Health Regulation.
Dr. Ali Saud Al Bimani, Vice Chancellor of the National University of Science and Technology, affirmed the attention accorded to medical education in the Sultanate of Oman in cooperation with the Ministry of Health, represented by various health institutions. This attention, he said, motivates medical students and grants them a good share of clinical training, enabling them to become skilled doctors in the future.
For his part, Prof. Mohamed Ali Al Shafaee, Dean of the College of Medicine and Health Sciences, said that the annual white coat ceremony (now in its 20th edition at the NU) is a global tradition that symbolizes the beginning of clinical training.
He pointed out that the college's Medical Programme (MD) has obtained full accreditation, based on international standards set by the World Federation for Medical Education (WFME). “This achievement constitutes academic excellence and offers medical students the highest standards of education and training,” he added.
