In partnership with bp Oman and in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, InnoTech concluded the FabTech Mobile Lab programme in a closing ceremony, held under the patronage of Hamad Khalfan Al Rashdi, Advisor to the Minister of Education, for Administrative Affairs.
The FabTech Mobile Lab programme is considered as the first mobile lab of its kind in Oman, and over the last five years, the lab embarked on tours targeting school students in the governorates of Muscat, Al Dhahirah, and Al Dakhiliyah, as well as university students and those interested in modern manufacturing techniques and the Fourth Industrial Revolution. During this time, the mobile lab visited approximately 80 schools, organized 12 training camps, and participated in over 10 educational events and festivals.
Engineer Othman Al-Mandhri, Founder and CEO of Innotech, highlighted that: "The lab focused on empowering students to transform their ideas into projects or models using modern manufacturing techniques. It helped students learn how to use engineering design software, 3D printers, and laser cutting machines to turn their designs into tangible products. We hope this experience has inspired the next generation of innovators and designers."
Ibrahim Al Hinai, Social Investment Manager at bp Oman, Kuwait and Qatar, commented: “This programme reflects bp Oman’s commitment to supporting education that helps people develop transferrable skills needed for careers in energy and other sectors. This programme supported their educational journey by offering the latest tools and technologies, in line with the advancements in modern educational techniques worldwide. Throughout its operation, approximately 10,000 students benefited from the programme by joining the lab during school tours, summer camps, or participating in educational festivals and events.”
In addition, the lab also provided employment opportunities for Omanis, including three full-time positions for the administrative team and engineers responsible for training students and visitors. Moreover, the programme offered part-time positions to several photographers and trainees, reflecting Innotech’s commitment to supporting Omani talent.
